If You Ride With Me
If you ride with me, I will take you far
From these places you have known.
By the time the ride is over
You’ll know how much we’ve grown
– together, or apart.
We’ll ride the roads and mountains,
And travel to my home.
If you ride with me, you’ll see
The places I come from.
With eyes and mind both open
You’ll see and understand
Why I cannot be the one to come
And live here in your land.
For till you know what made me,
You’ll never make me yours.
So come now – ride with me –
Or stay here, on your own.
